James Edward Johnson

Mr. James "Brother" Edward Johnson, age 77 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Johnson was born in Surry County on July 27, 1936 to Everett and Pearl Slate Johnson. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Johnson was retired from Amerigas Co. and was a devoted member of Firehouse Ministries. Surviving are his loving wife, Betty S. Johnson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Larry and Tammy Johnson; grandchildren, Brad Johnson and wife Holly, Nic Johnson and wife Kassy, great grandchildren, Colt and Arabella; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Wayne Hiatt, Faye and Jack Hodges and Ron House; and a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Geraldine Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Joan House. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Firehouse Ministries by Rev.
