James Howard Johnson

Mr. James Howard "Jim" Johnson, 74, of 112 Balcony Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Johnson was born April 6, 1938, in Surry County, to the late William Howard and Rada Pack Johnson. He retired from the textile industry and was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his wife, Janie O'Neal Johnson of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" and Ricky Shinault of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Matthew Shinault and his wife, Stephanie, and Meredith V. Shinault, all of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Johnson of King and Carol and James Horton of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat, with the Rev. Kevin Clark and the Rev. Robert Pickens officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 1421 Little Mountain Church Road, Ararat, NC 27007.
