James Rolland Jones, Sr

Mr. James Rolland Jones, Sr., 71, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, January 12, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center. Mr. Jones was born August 11, 1937, in Surry County, to Elmer and Beulah Felts Jones. He retired from the United States Army after serving our country during the Viet Nam War. Surviving are his loving wife, Martha M. Jones of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Darren Willard and Frankie and Dayton Worrell, all of MOunt Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, James Rolland Jones, Jr. and Candy of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Jamie Jones, Amber Jones, James Jones, Tony Willard, Shane East, and Kelly East; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Darrell Oakley and Delores and J.D. Belton, all of Mount Airy; and two brothers, Kenneth Jones and Bobby Jones, both of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dink Haynes officiating. Burial will be Friday, January 16, 2009, at 9:00 AM at White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
