James Lloyd Joyce

        Mr. James Lloyd Joyce, age 84 of Stuart, Virginia passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at SOVAH Hospital of Martinsville.  He was born in Patrick County on March 3, 1936 to the late Watson Alex Joyce and Georgia Lawson Joyce.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Joyce and Larry Joyce; and three half-brothers, Claude Joyce, Glenn Joyce, and Swanson Joyce.  Mr. Joyce was an owner and operator of Phillip’s 66 Exxon and Joyce Brother’s Exxon for many years.  He enjoyed cattle farming and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

        Mr. Joyce is survived by three children, James Kevin Joyce and wife, Diana of Radford, Amanda Joyce Cassell and husband, Dewayne of Meadows of Dan; and Bradley Alex Joyce and wife, Rene of Stuart; and four grandchildren, Reagan Joyce, Dalton Joyce, Hayden Joyce, and Lilly Joyce.

        A graveside service for Mr. Joyce will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Snow Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Mark Wright officiating.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  Friends may pay their final respects on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O.
