Mr. James (Jimmy) David Lowry, Jr. age 63 of 118 South Franklin Road. Mount Airy., husband of Sylvia Barton Lowry passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his home. Mr. Lowry was born in Surry County on February 24, 1944 son of the late James David Lowry, Jr. and Dorothy Madeline McKinney Lowery, he was well known in the community as a musician playing in various groups including the Kings Bees, The Donna Fargo Show and most recently the Jimmy Lowry Gang. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is remembered most for being a great husband, daddy and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Barton Lowry of the home and one daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Rick Caudill of Ararat, VA., a grandson James Andrews Caudill, one aunt Carol Johnson of Toast, and by three uncles, Jack McKinney of Toast, Charles Lowry and Joel Simmons both of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 9, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Pastor Davon Huss and Elder Kenneth Hopkins with burial to follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night 7 to 9 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Junior Appalachian Musicians, c/o of the Surry Arts Council, P.O. Box 141 Mt. Airy, NC. 27030.
