James William "Bill" Martin, Sr.

Mr. James William “Bill” Martin, Sr., 52, of Mount Airy passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  He was born in Surry County on July 30, 1969, to John Franklin Martin, Sr. and the late Genevieve Norman Martin.  Bill earned his degree in Theology from Vintage Bible College and was an ordained minister.  Bill was also employed at B & R Hawks, Inc.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 31 years, Florence “Flo” Parris Martin; children, Megan and Bryan Shaw, and James William “Will” Martin, Jr.; grandchildren, Ryker Shaw and Baylee Shaw; his father, John Martin; a sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Brent Hawks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Franklin and Teresa Martin, and Bryan and Becky Martin; nieces and nephews; Bryan Martin and fiancé Kayla Potts, Belle Martin and fiancé Nathan Golding, Jared and Amy Hawks, Allison Hawks, Kaitlyn Hawks, and Emily Martin and fiancé Storm Utt; great nieces, Laila Hawks, Kennedy Hawks, and Laurel Hawks; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phillip and Peggy Parris; his spiritual son, Benny Shinault; and special friends, Michael Davis and Gary Griffith.  A service of worship and celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 11:00AM at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church with Rev.
