Mr. James Vernon "J.V." McIntyre, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010. Mr. McIntyre was born October 27, 1919, in Rockingham County, to the late Jefferson Isadore and Runa Wright McIntyre. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired as assistant manager from FCX and was a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. Mr. McIntyre is survived by his wife, Minnie Lou Critz Martin McIntyre of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James Edward "Ed" and Toni McIntyre of Mount Airy; a stepdaughter and her husband, Christie and Ronnie Marsh of Mount Airy; two stepsons and their wives, John and Teresa Martin of Mount Airy and Samuel and Gail Martin of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren, Dorinda "Dody" Tucker and Crystal Butts, both Seminole, FL, James McIntyre of Montgomery, AL, and Vicki Masek of Duluth, GA; two stepgrandchildren, Christian Hunter Marsh of Mount Airy and Amanda Willard of Yadkinville; ten great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. McIntyre was preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie Butcher McIntyre; and three brothers, Bill McIntyre, Alvin McIntyre, and Bobby McIntyre. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Richard Buffkin and the Rev. Billy Watson. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
