James Aubrey Moore, Sr

Mr. James Aubrey Moore, Sr., age 96, of Dobson passed away at his home on Thursday, February 28, 2008. He was born in Surry County on February 5, 1912, to the late William Henry Moore and the late Laura Jane Wilmoth Moore. Mr. Moore was retired from the United State Postal Service as a letter carrier with forty two years of service. He was a member of the Dobson United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Dobson Lions Club, a Mason and Member of the Copeland Masonic Lodge 390 AF and AM, and was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Eugenia Walker Moore and six brothers and four sisters. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law James Aubrey Moore, Jr. and Elaine H. Moore of Laurel Fork, VA, and a grandson John Walker Moore and his wife Tracy P. Moore of Oak Ridge, NC, and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday 2:00 P.M. at the Dobson United Methodist Church with a burial of his cremains to follow in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mocksville, NC. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, March 1, 2008, from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M..
