Mr. James Roscoe Moser, 83, of 191 Fireside Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Moser was born September 29, 1924, in Surry County, to the late James Dallas and Effie Haymore Moser. Roscoe retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Karen Moser of Mount Airy; two grandsons, Keith Moser and Kyle Moser, both of Mount Airy; two sisters, Thelma Creed and Georgia Johnson, both of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Sally Moser and Lorraine Moser, all of Mount Airy, and J.D. Moser of Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moser was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Hardy Moser; a son, James Keith Moser; and a brother, Tom Moser. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd, the Rev. Carlton S. McDaniel, and the Rev. Kermit L. Gray, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family may also be contacted at the home of Kent and Karen Moser, 205 Fireside Lane, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mike Beasley, 172 Cadle Ford Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Skilled Care Unit at Northern Hospital of Surry County and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love, care, and compassion shown to Roscoe during his illness.
