James Dallas Moser, Jr

Mr. James Dallas Moser, Jr., 78, Kernersville, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Trinity Glen Assisted Living. Mr. Moser was born October 27, 1935, in Surry County, to the late James Dallas Moser, Sr. and Effie Haymore Moser. He served our country in the United States Army, having served as a military policeman. He retired after 35 years from Norfolk and Southern Railway as a supervisor of Damage Control for the Shenandoah Division. He was a member of Boys Scout of America, Old Hickory Council Piedmont District. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Robin Giles of Walkertown, Sandi and Rex Burke of Belews Creek, and Jane and David McMurtry of Kernersville; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Aaron Moser and Brandi, Zack Giles, Daniella Giles, Joy Johnson and Anthony, Grace Anne Giles, Chad Burke and Angela, Justin Carpenter, Hannah McMurtry, and Emily McMurtry; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Georgia Johnson of Mount Airy; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Wayne and Sally Moser of Mount Airy and Loraine Moser of Bladenboro; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Velda and Amanda. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moser was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Creed; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom Moser and Roscoe and Nina Moser. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dale Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
