Mr. James Bradly Peavy, age 66, of Burlington, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 23, 2024, at his home. He was born in Newnan, GA, on October 15, 1957, the son of the late Clarence Alton “Al” and Margaret Yarbrough Peavy. Mr. Peavy graduated from Mount Airy High School and North Carolina State University. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coach, mentor and lifeline to many. Brad was the epitome of hard work and perseverance. Before he was barely old enough to legally work, he was catching lumber off the saw mill. In high school, he opened up the local radio station in the early morning hours and DJ’ed before school. He was the consummate salesman, forming authentic relationships with customers, buyers, and clients around the world. He owned and operated successful hosiery companies and battled giants that rivaled Goliath in the ever changing textile climate. As it says in the New Testament; Brad did and said more than could be contained in all the world's books. Brad loved sports and found his passion in coaching junior basketball; employing all of the Wooden principles like it was the NBA. He loved games and strategies and lived for competition of any kind. To know Brad Peavy is to have a story about him. Whether it was a story that left you in stitches, amazement, utter shock, or with incredible knowledge in the form of the perfect anecdote, he had a gift with words and storytelling. Brad loved without limits, spoke his mind and heart on every subject matter, and brought his full self and energy into every single thing that he did. He never met a problem that he couldn't dissect, analyze and solve. He left no stone uncovered when it came to matters of the heart and letting his family know his guidance and love. The product of that unconditional, often unconventional, love remains in the form of fierce loyalty from his family and direct marching orders to carry on. The magnitude of his presence has no limits. Brad is survived by his wife Leslie Bagnal Peavy; daughters, Elizabeth Peavy Tabor (Forrest), Grace Peavy (Matt Hanley); sons, Alex Peavy (Collins), Eric Peavy; grandchildren, Geddings Tabor, Winston Peavy, Parker Peavy; sister, Beverly Ann Peavy Simpson (Tom); Ken Peavy (Robin), Kris Peavy (Laura).

Mr. Peavy’s arrangements are entrusted to Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy. A celebration of his life will be named at a future time.
