Mr. James "Big Jim" William Pickett, age 75, of Dobson, NC passed away at Forsyth Hospital in Winston Salem on October 9, 2009. He was born in Yadkin co. on June 26, 1934 to the late Lester Early Pickett Sr. and Josephanna Cranfield Pickett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Mary Jane Pickett, one son James Lester Pickett; one sister and one brother. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator and loved to mow yards. He was a member of Second Chance Church and was one of the original Deacons. Surviving are his wife Shirley Jenkins Pickett of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law Bo and Melanie Summerlin of East Bend, NC, Kenneth and Karen Summerlin of Dobson, NC, Andy Summerlin of the home; seven grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Harvey Adams of Mocksville, NC; one brother and sister-in-law Lester Jr. and Phyllis Pickett of Yadkinville, NC; several nieces and nephews, one special niece Denise Jenkins and special great nephew Josh Jenkins; five special adoptive children Raymond Wood, Ginger Smith, Krystal Farmer, Jennie Lawson, Louise Rose; three special friends RC Hemmings, Jim and Shirley Griner; his special dog and friend Buster Pickett. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday October 11, 2009 at Second Chance Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Terry Coe will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends at Second Chance Church on Saturday evening from 6 until 9 PM. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Pickett family.
