James Richard Cox

Mr. James Richard Cox, age 94, of Thurmond NC, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born January 22, 1930, in Wilkes County, to the late Dollie Reece and the late Roxie Jane Spicer Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Magdalene Cox; and his sister, Tessie Spicer. He was a believer of Jesus Christ, retired from Chatham Manufacturing, and loved cutting wood.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters and sons-n-law, Verona and Doug Danley, Lois and Johnathan Everidge; sons and daughters-in-law, James Henry and Carolyn Cox, Roy Clifton Cox and Denise Reeves, David Grey and Tanya Cox; grandchildren, Melvin and Christine Cox, Katie and Michael Knodel, James and Jean Longworth, Terry and Lana Longworth, Jerry and Dena Longworth, Greyson Cox and Candra Chriscoe, Mikayla and Preston Harris, Valerie and Ricky Johnson, James Everidge, Ashley and Mark Van Hoy; seventeen great grandchildren; and fourteen great great grandchildren; and his sister Irene Norman; and a brother-in-law, James Spicer. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. Services will begin at 11:00 AM, in the Moody-Davis Chapel, with Rev Terry Longworth and Rev. Tim Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Charity Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
