James Frederick Roorback

Mr. James Frederick Roorback, 82, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Tyrone (Blair County), PA on November 23, 1930 to the late Donald Frederick and Thelma Cherry Roorback.

Mr. Roorback was co-owner of Superior Furniture Gallery in Burlington, NC and was a member of Burlington Assembly of God. He served our country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Jones Roorback of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Robert Woody of Burlington, NC, Patty and Dr. Scott Wooddell of Chesapeake, VA, Laurie and Matthew Converse of Gatlinburg, TN; a son, Fred Roorback of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Jill Fine (Chris), Alex Roorback, Jodie Hart (Dave), Eric Roorback, Dillon Jones (Andrea), Patrick Jones; one great grandchild, and one on the way; a sister, Erma Nolder of Beaver, PA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Roorback was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Roorback; and a brother, Bill Roorback.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Burlington Assembly of God with Pastor Howard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, NC. The family will receive friends Friday, August 16, 2013 from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt Airy.
