James Raymond Stevens

Mr. James Raymond Stevens, 75, of 138 Northwood Drive, Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 22, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Stevens was born July 11, 1931, in Surry County, to the late William Raymond "Ray" and Susan Etta Hiatt Stevens. He was a self-employed business man and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife, Polly Hiatt Easter Stevens of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Raymond McAleer of Rural Hall, Lynn and Mark Snow of Pilot Mountain, and Robin and Terry Newman of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Mary Stevens of Mount Airy; four stepdaughters, Yolanda Holt of Westfield, Dee Edwards and Amanda Combs, both of Cana, VA, and Yvette Sisk of Pilot Mountain; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Vera Stevens Hiatt of King, and Mildred Stevens Hall and Christine Stevens Hunter, both of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Mary Laura Stevens of Mount Airy; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Morris Stevens; a stepson, Carlton Easter; and a sister, Cleo Stevens. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 25, 2006, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Bishop David P. Hiatt and Bishop J.C. Haymore. Burial will be in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy and Monday from 10:00 to 10:30 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mount Airy.
