James Philip Stutt, 92, of Ararat, VA, departed this life February 10, 2010. Born October 4, 1917, to a coal-mining family, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, he became a real estate broker in Pittsburgh; his ethical standards and generosity to his employees were notable. Jim Stutt became a life-long Presbyterian, to the consternation of his Roman Catholic family. He is survived by his wife, Edith B. Stutt of the home; a daughter, Paula Myler and husband, Bob, of St. Louis; a daughter Michele DeLeo and husband, Don, of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Karen Corbett and husband, Chris, of Ararat, VA; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Special relatives include a nephew, J.J. Wilding and wife, Phyllis, of Pittsburgh; and a niece, Charlotte Golinski of Dormont, PA. Particular passions of Jim Stutt included the game of golf, and the welfare of dogs, cats, birds, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of The Fellowship Church in Ararat, VA. A memorial service will be held in the summer when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren are out of school, and weather is more conducive for traveling. Mrs. Stutt suggests that donations be made in Jim's memory to the Dan River Park, P.O. Box 35, Ararat, VA. 24053.
