James Alfred Thompson

Mr. James Alfred Thompson, 72, of 3287 Ground Hog Mountain Road, Hillsville, VA, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, at his home. Mr. Thompson was born September 30, 1938, in Floyd County, VA, to the James Eartel and Gladys Sutphin Thompson. He retired from Vaughn Furniture and was a member of Rome Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Gaynell Barr Thompson of the home; a daughter, Bonnie Sizemore of Galax, VA; a grandson, Shane Sizemore of Galax, VA; two sisters, Joan Marie Tobler of Laurel Fork, VA, and Janet Kay Roberts of Galax, VA; and two special friends, Ledford Hiatt and Robby Page. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Rome Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry McMillian officiating. There will not be a formal visitation. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.
