James Barry Towe

Mr. James Barry Towe, age 56 of Cana, VA passed away Thursday December 26, 2024, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. He was born on March 4, 1968, in Surry County to the late Franklin Towe and Mary Sykes Towe. Mr. Towe graduated from UVA Clinch Valley College with a Bachelor of Science and received his Master of Information Systems from Virginia Tech. He was currently employed by National General Management Corporation as a Business Intelligence System Administrator Expert. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Kristie Duncan Towe; their daughter, Kara, whom he loved dearly and was extremely proud; a sister and brother in law, Brenda and Danny Terry; brother and sister in law, Dr. Benjamin and Elizabeth Towe; mother in law and father in law Charles and Shirley Duncan; sister in law Tammy Harris and her husband, Kevin; 5 nieces; 4 great nieces; 2 great nephews; and many cousins and friends. Mr. Towe was an active member of Epworth Memorial Church. He loved the Lord and passed that great love onto his daughter. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his big heart, kindness to others, and his great sense of humor. A service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Epworth Memorial Church in Cana, VA. The Towe family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church from 1:00-2:00pm and the service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00pm with pastor Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Memorial Church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy, NC is serving the family.
