James Van Hoy

Mr. James Gilbert Van Hoy, age 71, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at his residence. He was born June 16, 1949 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Eula Plummer Van Hoy and the late Andy Gilbert Van Hoy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Edward Van Hoy; and his sister-in-law, Lily Van Hoy. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Brenda McClure Van Hoy; son and daughter-in-law, James Andrew and Crystal Van Hoy; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Denver Osborne; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Van Hoy, Charles and Pat Van Hoy and Ronald and Donna Van Hoy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Van Hoy was a retired anesthesiologist and a member of Salem Fork Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday May 22, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 noon in the Chapel with Rev. Sean Joplin and Rev. Mickey Marshall officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Piney Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Piney Creek, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
