Elkin, NC April 9, 2021 Mr. James William “Jimmy” Smith, age 54, of Elkin passed away at his home on Friday morning April 9, 2021.  He was born in Surry County on December 19, 1966, to Carol Lee Carter Smith, and to the late Wayne Jackson Smith.  He was retired from Floyd Pike and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Surviving is the love of his life and caregiver Ginger Stanley Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Jake and Meredith Smith, step-daughter, Maranda McMillian and Mike Golding; step-son, Phillip and Sunny Chrismon; grandchildren, Owen, Kinna, Maeyvn McMillian; Charlotte Chrismon; mother, Carol Lee Carter Smith and his special father and mother-in-law, Arlin and Edna Jean Stanley.  Jimmy also had several nieces and nephews: Ashley, Aaron, Kayla and Jerimiah. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa L. Smith, uncle Bill Smith and grandma Ruth Smith.  A celebration of life will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Monday evening at 6:00 PM.  Rev. Glinard Lawson will officiate the service.  There will be no formal services held at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.  A private graveside will be held at a later date. The family would like to give a special thanks to Debbie Ford, Greg Anderson and the entire Mountain Valley Hospice family for taking such good care of Jimmy.  Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.  Due to COVID restrictions, the family requests all attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.
