Ms. Jane Edwards Phillips Brindle, 70, of Mount Airy, "our loving mom, grandma, nana, sister, and best friend peacefully went to be with her Lord" on Friday, December 26, 2008. Ms. Brindle was born April 19, 1938, in Galax, VA, to the late Ernest W. and Myrtle Melton Edwards. She worked at Proctor-Silex for 25 years and retired after working at Pine State Knitwear with 10 years service. Ms. Brindle was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Phillips of the home and Kim Baker and Steve Payne of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debbie Phillips of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Steven Beane of Ararat, Stefany Beane and fiance, Scotty Flippen, of Mount Airy, Brandy Spiken and Mandy Chapman, both of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild, Dakota Janzen of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bonnie Harbour of Shallotte and Susie and Bill Gingras of Lenoir; a special uncle, Robert Melton of Pulaski, VA, who was like a brother; and a special aunt, Grace Melton of Pulaski, VA. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist and Mr. Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, and other times at her home at 2042 South Main Street in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Derrick L. Davis-Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, ATTN: Simstein Fund, 1010 Bethesda Court, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
