Mrs. Jane Creed Danley, 68, of 3473 Ararat Road, Ararat, passed away Wednesday morning, March 31, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Danley was born April 28, 1941, in Randolph County, daughter of the late F.J. "Levi" and Ernestine Hanks Creed. Jane retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Blackwater United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Blaine Brintle of Mount Airy and Jean and Billy Hicks of Pilot Mountain; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Roscoe and Mabel Creed and Wallace and Magdalene Creed, all of Mount Airy; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Patty Marion of Ararat and Leonard and Selva K. Danley of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Danley was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Jahue "O.J." Danley; two infant daughters, Olivia Jane Danley and Angela Jay Danley; and two sisters, Annie Holyfield and Minnie Atkins. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Blackwater United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ted Turman, the Rev. Jack Danley, and the Rev. Marion Fulk officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Blackwater United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Linda Key, 483 Key Road, Ararat, NC 27007.
