Janet Dean Smith Sawyers

Ms. Janet Dean Smith Sawyers, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital. Ms. Sawyers was born December 6, 1954, in Surry County, to the late Windell and Bertie Atkins Smith. Janet was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a faithful member of New Home Church of Christ. Janet will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Amy Renee and Randall Cave; two sons, Anthony Sawyers and Michael Sawyers; five grandchildren, Alexis and Jesse Bounds, Andrew and Khloe Cave, Sadie Moore, Riley Moore, and Brantley Cave; a great-grandchild, Tucker Cave; a sister, Ann Smith; a brother, Ronda Smith; several nieces and nephews; along with her fur baby, Ladybug. In addition to her parents, Ms. Sawyers was preceded in death by two brothers, Carnell Smith and Harrell Smith; and a nephew, Marty Smith. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 2:00 PM at New Home Church of Christ, with Bro. Tim Smith and Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Ann Smith, 1030 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
