Janice Ellen Southern Brickell

Mrs. Janice Ellen Southern Brickell, 75, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at her daughters home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 6, 1947, in Davidson County to the late William A. and Geneva Creed Southern.  Mrs. Brickell was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.  Mrs. Brickell loved riding the wagon train with her family and friends.  She loved taking pictures, gardening, cooking, but her greatest love was her grandchildren.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Genene (Eddie Ray) Lovill; sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn (Stacey) Brickell, Eric (Sharon) Brickell, Marshall (Tammy) Park; grandchildren, DeeAnn (David) Carson, Amber Brickell, Dustin (Kendra) Lovill, Macayla (Blake) Barneycastle, William Brickell, Josie Brickell, Colton Lovill, Brycen Lovill, Sarah Park, Laura Park, Shelby (Dillon) Rogers, and Pacey and Colt; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Stull, Rylan Carson, Zayden Carson, Ally Lovill, Landon Lovill, JW Barneycastle, and Lane Rogers; sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnne (Wayne) Adkins, Pam (Donnie) Dunbar; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brickell was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Thomas “Tommy” Brickell, Jr.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arlis Thomas and Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brickell Farms Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday night from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
