Mrs. Janice Kathleen Creasy Draughn, 60, of Mount Airy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, November 18, 2018. Mrs. Draughn was born March 29, 1958, in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Robert Ernest and Sarah Louise Hicks Creasy. Janice worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for 39 years. She deeply cared for her patients and always had their well-being at the inner core of her being. She also taught nursing classes at Surry Community College for nearly 15 years, as she truly wanted to share her nursing experiences and intellect with those who were aspiring to be nurses. Janice loved life, always making the most of every day with her joy, singing, dancing, traveling, and spending time with Carter, her precious grandson, “The Golden Girls,” and “The GiGi Girls.” She lived her life by The Golden Rule, treating others as one’s self would wish to be treated, and served others as a means of her love for God. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert Stephen “Steve” Draughn of the home; her children, Emily and Will Collette of Clemmons and Dana Draughn and Ashley Farmer of Salisbury; her grandchildren, Carter Collette, Kendell Collette, and Payton Collette, all of Clemmons, and Clista Farmer of Salisbury; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Bobbie Jean Clifton and her companion, Larry Champion, of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Patsy Ruth Atkins and her companion, John Slate, and Shirley and Homer Casstevens, all of Mount Airy; two brothers, James Edward Dockins of Fancy Gap, VA, and Robert “R.C.” Creasy of Dobson; her father-in-law, Bobby Draughn of Mount Airy; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Robin Draughn, Doug Draughn, Darrell Draughn, and Jill and Wes Cave, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Katherine Shinault of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Edythe Marion Draughn. A service of worship and celebration of Janice’s life will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with Dr. Darrell Tate, the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr., and the Rev. Stewart R. Mauck officiating. Interment will follow in the Draughn Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or well-wishers may do something nice for someone in need to show their appreciation of how a single person can touch so many lives forever. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
