Janis Honeycutt

Mrs. Janis Irene Ayers Honeycutt, 74, of Mt. Airy, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, March 9, 2021.  She was born in Carroll County, VA, December 21, 1946, to the late Rabe and Mae Willard Ayers.  Mrs. Honeycutt was a social worker in Surry County for many years.  She is survived by her devoted husband Fred Samuel Honeycutt; her daughters, Jan Qualheim, and Laura Orndorff; grandchildren, Joshua Chandler and wife, Alexa, Christopher Chandler, Douglas Honeycutt, Brandon Orndorff, and Dalton Orndorff; great-grandchildren, Brandon Honeycutt, Braylin Honeycutt, Sammy Honeycutt, Austin Honeycutt, Addilyn Chandler, Zoey Chandler; a sister Ellen Barr; and brothers, Alvin Bowman, and Commodore Ayers.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by a sister, Mareather Barr.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Gospel Mission Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Young, and Pastor Pete King officiating.  Burial will follow in Midkiff Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
