Jasper Odell Carlisle, Jr

Mr. Jasper Odell "Jackie" Carlisle, Jr., 65, of Dobson, left his earthly home and entered into the portals of heaven on Sunday, June 6, 2010. He was born March 26, 1945, in Henry County, VA, to the late Jasper Odell Carlisle, Sr. and Helen Gentry Carlisle. Mr. Carlisle was a retired chef from Hope Valley, where he touched the lives of many, and a devoted member of Unity Church of Winston-Salem, where he truly expressed his passion for gospel music and his love for sharing good food with others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Kelley Carlisle of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Erica Lynn Carlisle, Kelsey Jackson Carlisle, and Christopher Tyldon Carlisle; a sister, Laura Culler of St. Petersburg, FL; and his lifetime partner of 36 years, W.G. Ireland of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carlisle was preceded in death by a brother, David Carlisle. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 6:00 PM Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Unity Church of Winston-Salem, by the Rev. Elizabeth Forrest. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unity Church of Winston-Salem, 108 Hewes Street Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family is being served by Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
