Jasper Roosevelt Cave

Mr. Jasper Roosevelt Cave, 74, husband of Mrs. Virginia "Jenny" Freeman Cave, of Dobson passed away on Sunday November 11, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his bedside. He was born in Surry County on October 22, 1933 to the late Thomas Richard and Bessie Hudson Cave. Mr. Cave retired from the United States Government where he worked for the Natural Resource Conservation Service and was a member of Central View Missionary Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia "Jenny" Freeman Cave of the home; a daughter and son-in-law Lydia and Jimmy Johnson; two sons and daughters-in-law Terry and Deborah Butcher Cave and Rev. Christopher and Angie Minton Cave; special grandchildren Nicky Johnson, Michael Johnson, Oshen and husband Jonathan Wallin, Justin Sands, Erin Cave and Caleb Cave; three sisters and brothers-in-law Launa and Emmett Woodle, Jane and Jasper Bunker and Cora Lee and Melvin Womble; two brothers and sisters-in-law Tommy and Mary Cave and John and Lee Cave. In addition to his parents Mr. Cave was preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Frank, Richard and Elwood Cave; two sisters Mary Turlington and Jenny Hiedenreich. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Central View Missionary Baptist Church where his body will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. Officiating will be his son Rev. Christopher Cave and Rev. Van Brindle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 7 to 9 pm Monday. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for all the care and compassion shown them during this difficult time. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Cave family.
