I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course in life, I have my faith. Jasper Foy Kennedy, Sr. husband of Lynder Keaton Kennedy passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from a long struggle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1942 in Wilkes County to Maude Johnson Kennedy of Traphill and the late Lundy Foy Kennedy. He was retired from Holly Farms after 23 years of employment and Vaughn Bassett Furniture and was an avid coon hunter and his skill in horsemanship was admired by many. Jasper attended and loved Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat, NC. Survivors are his wife, Lynder Keaton Kennedy of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jasper Foy Kennedy, Jr. and Robin and Scottie Ruffin Kennedy both of Traphill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christie Ann Scearce, of Wilkesboro, Cindy L. and Steve Cayton of Winston-Salem and Melissa L. and Jay Abrams of Ararat, VA; eight grandchildren, Matthew Kennedy, Lora and Elizabeth Kennedy, Jasmine Nelson, Valerie, Chasity and Zack Abrams and Steve Cayton, Jr.; his mother, Maude Johnson Kennedy of Traphill; five sisters, Brenda Bowers, Bernice Robinson, Barbara Caldwell, Sally Andrews, and Betty Daye; four brothers, Jesse, Walter, Gene and Ray Kennedy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Wesley Boyles. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
