Jean Varner Collins

Mrs. Jean Varner Collins age 64 of 1798 Clark House Farm Road in Stuart, passed away on April 19, 2008 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was born in Stokes County on October 17, 1943 to the late Peter D. and the late Hessie Shelton Varner. Mrs. Collins was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Gilbert Collins; two sisters Louise Martin, and Lena Hughes. She was a very active member of Oakridge Baptist Church; a beautician for 20 years; and a member of the Sunshine Quartet.
Mrs. Collins is survived by two sisters; Edna V. Terrell of Walnut Cove, NC and Annie V. Gunter of Stuart, VA. also a number of nieces and nephews .
A graveside service will be held Wednesday April 23, 2008 at 2:00 pm at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Melvin Shelton officiating. If desired memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o Charmaine Atkins P. O. Box 10, Claudville, VA 24076 or to the Gilbert Collins Scholarship Fund 460 Collins Lane, Stuart,VA 24171.
