Jean Delores Dalton

Mrs. Jean Delores Dalton, age 77 of Cana, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Mrs. Dalton was born in Norfolk, VA, May 11, 1931 to Henry and Ethel Mae Guest Ballance. The Lord truly gave Ms Jean the gift of giving and many were blessed because of that gift. She will be dearly missed by her family and all her many friends. Surviving are her husband, Claudie Dalton of the home; two daughters Barbara and husband Louie McCall of the home; Judy and husband Ronnie Pope of Charlotte; grandchildren, Tommy and Angela Little, Chris and Paula Little, Dewayne Ott, Kathy and Joshua Richardson, Kayla Garcia, Ryan Pope, Lynn and Danny Robinson, and Ronnie and Jessica Pope; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Shumate of Hillsville, VA; and Doris Sanders of Charlotte. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Bruce Little, Sr.; a son, Thomas Bruce Little, Jr.; and a brother, Hayward Ballance. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Cana Baptist Church where Mrs. Dalton will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. The service will be conducted by Rev. Timmy Crotts and Rev. Tim Cruse. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Cana Baptist Church. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Powell "Dr. Wonderful" and the staff of Baptist Hospital for the tender loving care given to Mrs. Dalton during her illness.
