Mrs. Jeanette Hoover Bristol, 91, of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Mrs. Bristol was born December 11, 1932, in Orangeburg County, SC, one of six children born to the late Arthur Henry and Lessie Williams Hoover. Jeanette grew up in Salley, SC, and graduated from Salley High School in 1950. In 1954, Jeanette married Eugene Legraund Bristol, and together they were a vital part of the Mount Airy community for more than 50 years. She dedicated her life to the creation of a loving home for her family and was the source of ceaseless support to her husband in his professional activities. Jeanette enjoyed bowling with the Mount Airy Bowling League and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church until her health declined. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Tony Stanley and Wendy and Billy Simpson, all of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Christopher Matthew Brackins and Indira Reid of Winston-Salem, and Kaela Grace Simpson and Luke Eugene Simpson, both of Mount Airy; her stepgrandchildren, Randy and Shannon Stanley, Ryan Stanley and Brandy Davis, Andrew and Emily Stanley, and Matt Simpson, all of Mount Airy, and Andy Simpson of Charlotte; a great-stepgrandson, Blake Stanley of Mount Airy; a sister, Shirley Copeland of Gaston, SC; and several, beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bristol was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Legraund Bristol; two sisters, Annis Williams and Emmie Williams; and two brothers, James Ray Hoover and Tillman Hoover. A service of worship and celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 (www.alz.org). Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
