Jeannie Ilene Thomas

Ms. Jeannie Ilene Thomas, age 79 of Woolwine passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Martinsville on October 4, 1944 to the late Ilene Wood Thomas and Alvis W. Thomas.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harlowe Bowling.  She graduated from Woolwine High School in 1962 and then from Averette College in 1964.  She was a member of Woolwine Methodist Church where she served as pianist for 40 plus years, and also served at Sycamore Baptist Church, as well as many other church functions.  She worked several years as Bookkeeper/Office Manager for Clark and Corbett, attorneys at law. 

Ms. Thomas is survived by one sister, Jennifer Nowlin (Frankie); an aunt, Crystal Wood, cousin, Beverly Morrison (Sam) and several other cousins; special friends, Gerald and Janet Hylton.  Jeannie will be missed by many.

Funeral services for Ms. Thomas will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Woolwine Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Wright officiating.  Burial will follow in Woolwine Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
