Jennings Buckley Rader is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jean Collins Rader, who grew up in Mount Airy, where her parents, Bob and Laura, lived on Mitchell Street, and her sister, Eleanor Webster, lived on Church Street. Buck is also survived by three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Children are Sybil Burns, Robin Beans and Buck, Jr. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Zachary Burns and his wife, Nicole, and their daughter Ansley; Nicholas Burns and his wife, Hallie, and their daughter, Kinsley, and son Jennings; Russell Beans; and Sarah Beans. Buck grew up in West Jefferson, served as a first air commando in World War II, graduated from Vanderbilt University, then moved to South Florida where he retired as the engineering department chairman at Palm Beach State College. There will be a graveside service Sunday, October 3, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. John Ferree officiating. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
