Mrs. Jerlean Margie Boles Payne, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, July 22, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Payne was born March 27, 1930, in McDowell County, WV, to the late James Early and Allie Simpson Boles. She was the owner and operator of Fairview Grocery and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Payne of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen Faye and Mickey Bunton of Hudson and Ruth and Charles Busick of Ararat, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Elaine Payne and Dennis and Tammy Payne, all of Dobson; nine grandchildren, Tommy Payne, Cheryl Dance, Daniel Payne, Josh Payne, Benji Payne, Shane Bunton, Melissa Starnes, Terry Busick, and Jason Busick; ten great-grandchildren, Haley Payne, Matthew Dance, Nathan Dance, Tiffany Payne, Miles Payne, Natalie Payne, MacKenzie Starnes, Ciara Oakley, Justin Busick, and Jacee Busick; and a special nephew, Herman "Buck" Boles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Bingman and Myrtle Bingman; and three brothers, Billy Boles, Ed Boles, and Albert Boles. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. and the Rev. Kermit L. Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Her body will be taken to Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson after the visitation and will remain there until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
