Jerry Dean Durham

Mr. Jerry Dean Durham, 60, devoted husband of Joan Melton Durham, of Elkin, passed away Wednesday October 25, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on March 16, 1946 to Moses Leonard Durham and the late Versie Estelle Gammons Durham. Mr. Durham was a well known farmer and a member of Salem Fork Christian Church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Joan, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Archie Dean and LuAnn Jones Durham of State Road; three grandchildren Hayley Durham, Garrett Durham and Justin Willey; his father Moses L. Durham; two brothers and sisters-in-law Charles Leonard and Bonita Durham of Elkin, NC, Carl Ray and Sue Durham of Amarillo, Texas and a special companion "Bandit". In addition to his mother, Mr. Durham was preceded in death by a daughter Vickie Willey. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Gum Orchard Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Wall and Rev. Ron Chamberlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Zephyr Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
