Mr. Jerry Dean Newman, age 72 of Mount Airy passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home in Davidson, North Carolina.  Mr. Newman was born on October 3, 1949, in Surry County to the late Wade and Hazel Chandler Newman.  Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  He was the owner of BCJ Trucking that was established in 1984.  Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 10 years, Donna Newman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy Newman Doss and Marty, Dena Newman Wood and Jarod; a son Sam Newman and wife Nicole; step daughter, Amanda Dudek and Mark; step son, Tanner Edwards; three grandchildren, Jordan Doss, Riley Doss, Nicholas Wood; five step grandchildren, Madison Dudek, Emma Dudek, Taylor Jones, Carter Jones, Brett Doss and Rebekah; two great-grandchildren; special longtime friend, Keith Thomas; and his beloved bull dogs, Johnny Cash and Ann Kathrine.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Newman was preceded in death two brothers, Dennis Newman, and James “Jimmy” Newman.  A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Cross Creek Country Club in Mount Airy.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bullies to Rescue, 323 Unionville Indian Trail Road W., Suite B, Indian Trail, North Carolina, 28079.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
