Jerry Gray Slate

Mr. Jerry Gray Slate, 71, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away at his home, Thursday, January 21, 2021.  He was born in Surry County, October 11, 1949, to the late Catherine Gordon and Claude Slate.  Jerry was a man with a great sense of humor, and outgoing personality.  He loved his family and cherished the time he had with them.  He was a self-employed mechanic, with a love for fast cars and a challenge to make them greater than ever before.  Left to cherish his memory, his wife Melissa “Misty” Ann Wall Slate; daughter Gina Slate McBride; sons and a daughter-in-law, Richie Slate, and Gary Wayne and Laura Slate; grandchildren, Kamron McBride and Natalie Slate; brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude Slate, Jr.  Teddy and Barbara Slate, Sandy Slate, Janice Gordon, and JoAnn Slate; several nieces and nephews; special great-nieces and nephews, Taylor, Chase, Blaise, Zeb Samantha, and Savannah.  In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister Trudy Slate Hiatt; and brothers, Joseph Larry Gordon and Rev. Jimmy Slate.  A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, January 25, 2021 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Kenneth Hawks officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
