Mr. Jerry Hayward Watson, 64, of Westfield, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Watson was born September 2, 1945, in Surry County, to the late Marvin and Vernie Brim Watson. He retired from J.P.S. Elastomerics and was an avid hunter, dog trader, and gun trader. Mr. Watson is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Virginia Speas Watson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Hayward Watson, Jr. of the home and Jason and Suzanne Watson of Westfield; two deeply-loved grandchildren, Lily Watson and Colt Watson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clercy and Frank Tucker of Germanton and Linda and Danny Hardy of Winston-Salem; a brother, Donald Watson and his special friend, Cindy Polley of Pilot Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Bessie Watson and the Rev. Romney and Voda Brim; and a special niece, Alison James. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 21, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Woodville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Love and the Rev. Rickey Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
