Mr. Jerry Philip Willard, 67, of Pinnacle, passed away Saturday morning, March 19, 2011, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born July 16, 1943, in Surry County, to the late Herman and Clara Johnson Willard. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Willard retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Joy Shelton Willard of the home; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Julia and Melvin Shelton and Marie Crutchley, all of Pinnacle; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Johnson and Libby Willard, Roy and Mickey Willard, and Wayne Willard, all of Pinnacle, Sammy Willard of Winston-Salem, and Eddie Willard of Rural Hall; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mitch Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
