Jesse Bowman

Mr. Jesse Bowman, 86, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in Surry County.  He was born in Surry County on September 24, 1935, to the late Mae Bowman Collins.  Mr. Bowman retired from Armtec after many years of employment.  He is survived by a daughter, Rita Hazelwood; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Bowman and Debbie, Robert Bowman and Faye, Edd Bowman and Bonnie; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy “Bunkie” Bowman; special friends, Jason Reynolds, and David Bowman; special cousins, Betty and Calvin Shinault; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his mother, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bell Wilson Bowman; sons, Kenneth Ray Bowman, and Jesse Junior Bowman; brothers and sisters, Ray Bowman, Charlie Bowman, Hubert Collins, Geneva Cobbler, Messie Pack, Brenda Brady, Kate Collins.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Nichols and the Rev. Rickey Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in True Word Baptist Church in Westfield.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Services in Mt.
