Jesse Wilford Creed

Mr. Jesse Wilford Creed, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born February 15, 1924, in Surry County, to the late George Wesley and Ella Sawyers Creed. Jesse retired from National Bassett Furniture Company after 46 years of service. He was a very good sprayman for the company, and he enjoyed working on antiques and farming. He was a person that loved to talk to people. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Creed is survived by his angel and beloved wife of 65 years, Pearl Potts Creed; two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise A. and Wade Shelton of Mount Airy and Geneva and Terry Hutchens of Pilot Mountain; four grandchildren and their spouses, Delana and Richard Flynn of Ararat, Patrina and Jeff Moore of Pilot Mountain, Rekenna and Timmy Holt of Siloam, and Will and Buffy Moore of Pilot Mountain; three stepgrandchildren and their spouses, Trent and Stephanie Hutchens of Dobson, Tim and Alysia Hutchens of Pinnacle, and Tray and Gina Hutchens of Dobson; five great-grandchildren, Casey Flynn and Suzanne of Ararat, Alexis Holt and Cierra Holt, both of Siloam, and Braiden Hunter of Pilot Mountain; four great-stepgrandchildren, Noah, Bella, Jon and Jake Hutchens; three sisters, Lillian Boyer of Denver CO, Pauline Pyles of Auroa, CO, and Irene Hegg of Richmond, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by two sisters, Susan Huff and Velma Carpenter. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Cecil Hill and the Rev. Grant Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church.
