Jesse Grover Harrison

Mr. Jesse Grover Harrison, 79, of Dobson, the loving husband of Virginia Lucille Fortner Harrison, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center after an extended illness. He was born January 18, 1932, in Surry County, to the late William Howard and Vernie Mae Fowler Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a retired security guard from Spencer's, Inc. and a member of Gospel View Baptist Church. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 56 years, Virginia Lucille Fortner Harrison of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lynn and Ricky Pratt of Ararat, Karen and Dr. Zach Sizemore of Concord, and Becky Lindsay of Dobson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Danny and Donna Harrison and Lee Harrison, all of Dobson; eight special grandchildren, Ann Shumate, Daniel Harrison, Cheyenne Harrison, Matthew Pratt, Derek Sizemore, Tyler Sizemore, Chelsea Sizemore, and Jessica Lindsay; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Shumate, Trent Shumate, Dreven Harrison, Trinity Harrison, Haylee Moore, and Reagan Lynn Sizemore; and two sisters, Gracie Holcomb and Sis Dezern, both of Elkin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Gail Harrison and Sharon Kaye Harrison; three sisters; and three brothers. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with Dr. Jerry Sizemore and Dr. Zachary Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
