Mr. Jesse Warren Hill, 81, of 2117 Heatherstone Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 8, 2008, at his home. Mr. Hill was born January 30, 1927, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Totsy Dunkley and India Powell Hill. Warren served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as district supervisor at Pike Inc. for 34 years and later owned and operated Core Electric for 20 years. Mr. Hill was a member of Granite Masonic Lodge #322 AF and AM, Surry Shrine Club, and attended Salem United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tim and Martha Hill of Orlando, FL, and Mike Hill of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Matt Hill, Chelsi Hill, Derek Hill, Chris Hill, Ashley Aswell, and Ryan Hill; five great-grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Harvey Wall of Ararat, NC, Mildred Marsh of Mount Airy, Nelda and Jerry Fink of Virginia Beach, VA, and Bertie and Tom Guynn of Ararat, VA; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kermit and Lori Hill of Winston-Salem and Wayne Hill of Stuart, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Edwards Hill; two sisters, Essie Badgett and Susie Gambill; and two brothers, Herman Hill and Harry Hill. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 11, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the service by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the Hill home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
