Ms. Jessie Irene Riddle Brannock, 95, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Britthaven NorthChase in Wilmington. Ms. Brannock was born February 18, 1912, in Surry County, to the late William Yancy and Florene Simmons Riddle. She was a homemaker for many years and later owned and operated a daycare center from her home. Jessie was a lifelong resident of the Bannertown community until she moved to Lake Wylie, SC, in 2003. Ms. Brannock was a member of Mount Airy Friends Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robert Benson of Hampstead; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Pam Brannock of Clover, SC; three grandchildren, Jennifer Michelle Filliben of Charlotte, Jonathan Scott Brannock of Clemson, SC, and Dan Benson of Hampstead; two great grandchildren, Alexis Filliben and Landyn Filliben, both of Charlotte; and a sister, Eunice Riddle Shaw of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Brannock was preceded in death by an infant sister; and three brothers, David H. Riddle, George Riddle, and Calvin Riddle. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 14, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Mount Airy Friends Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Vladimir Strejcek. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Mount Airy Friends Church. If desired, memorials may be made to the Mount Airy Friends Church, 109 West Wilson Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to American Red Cross, Surry County Chapter, 844 Westlake Drive, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
