Jessie "Glenn" McCrary

Mr. Jessie “Glenn” McCrary, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born November 3, 1934, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Lonzo and Dorothy Gray McCrary.  Mr. McCrary retired from Roadway and was a member of Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He is survived by his wife, Laura Mabe McCrary; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gina Sumner and John, Lisa and Jimmy Lawrence, Pam and Marty Lewis; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Teresa McCrary; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley King; his caregivers, Erlene Horton and grandson Morgan Gwynn, who he loved like a son; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. McCrary was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Jones; and four brothers, Clinton McCrary, Clayton McCrary, Parlie McCrary, and Carlie McCrary.  The funeral service will be held Monday, February 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Brian Frazier and the Rev. Chad Crotts officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rocky Ford Christian Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
