Jessie Akers Pack

Mr. Jessie Akers Pack, 83, of Ararat, VA, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Pack was born April 2, 1927, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Joe Cephus and Mary Louise Inman Pack. He was a farmer and a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sadie Marshall Pack of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Della Mae Pack of the home and Brenda and Robert Stevens of Ararat, VA; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Herbert Pack of the home, James Lewis and Michelle Pack of Fancy Gap, VA, Glenn Ray and Wilma Pack of Ararat, VA, and Joe Jessie Pack, Jr. and his fiancée, Tammy Draughn, of Ararat, VA; fifteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pack was preceded in death by two infant daughters; two sisters; and three brothers. The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 17, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Rayton Puckett and the Rev. Billy Stegall officiating. Burial will follow in the Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
