Jessie York

Mr. Jessie Curtis York, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away at his home on Wednesday evening, April 7, 2021.  He was born on February 1, 1938 in Randolph County to the late Dennis Patterson York and Hazel McMasters York.  He was a member of Great Hope Independent Baptist Church and a retired long distance truck driver.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Lois Williams York; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Donald Reynolds; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff York, Timothy and Debbie York, Jesse Ray and Judy York, and Todd and Katherine York; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law, Eva and Walker Bates, and Treva Miller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Katherine York, Larry and Mae York, and Melvin and Sheila York; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. York was preceded in death a sister, Ann Pless; and by a daughter-in-law, Janet L. York.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Great Hope Independent Baptist Church in Woodlawn, VA with Pastor Tim York officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the burial.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the York family.
