Jewel Sigmon Foster Ayers

Mrs. Jewel Sigmon Foster Ayers, 81, of 4412 Epworth Church Road, Cana, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Ayers was born October 1, 1927, in Franklin County, VA, to the late George Reeves and Rosie Ella Hale Sigmon. She retired from Bassett Furniture, was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Gilbert Ayers of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ella and Henry Daniels of Franklin County, VA, Nola Adams of Bassett, VA, and Marie and Bunny Guynn of Walnut Cove; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Mandy Ayers of Martinsville, VA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her first husband, Brosie Foster; two sons, Dexter B. Foster and Charlie G. Foster; a sister, Estelle Gwyn; and a brother, Evel Sigmon. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Isreal Gwyn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cana, VA. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy will be assisting the Ayers family.
