Jewel Beatrice Davis Jarrell

Mrs. Jewel Beatrice Davis Jarrell, 88, of Princeton, WV, passed away July 4, 2022.  Mrs. Jarrell was born August 22, 1933, in Albemarle, NC to the late Edith E. Merritt and the late Clyde S. Davis. Mrs. Jarrell attended UNC-Greensboro and graduated with honors from the University of Virginia, with a BS in Education. Her interests and services to her Mt. Airy community were many. She served for 33 years on the Surry Community College board, during which time she was elected to the National Board of Community Colleges.  She served on the boards of the Mt. Airy Public Library, Northwestern Regional Library, Surry Arts Council, Central United Methodist Church, and Junior Women’s Club.   She was also a director of Northern Surry Hospital Auxiliary and was an officer of Garden Gate Garden Club and the North Carolina Museum of History Associates. Mrs. Jarrell is survived by her son, Davis H. Jarrell and wife Teresa Jarrell, of Bluefield, WV, and her daughter, Beverly Jarrell Williams of Charleston, SC; grandchildren Davis Jarrell, Jr., Anne Jarrell, Leslie Williams Fisher, Roger Williams, Jr., and Logan Williams; 3 great grandchildren. Moody Funeral Services of Mt. Airy is serving the Jarrell Family.
